Class 2

What a busy week!

This week Class 2 went on their trip to @Bristol on Wednesday and had outdoor learning on Friday as well as all their other learning in-between.

On Wednesday we visited @Bristol for a fun packed day exploring science.  First we had a forces workshop, where we found out how lots of toys use forces and made our own sail cars that we pushed by blowing.  After lunch we set off in groups to explore all the wonderful exhibits and hands on experiments and displays, there was so much to do we didn't get a chance to get round it all but we had great fun as you can see in our pictures below.

On Friday Mr Russell joined us again for outdoor learning.  We had a fantastic day making dragon's eggs, building nests and making wild clay creatures to guard the nests.  Best of all class 2 showed great communication and teamwork with each other and got really messy!  We finished it all off by toasting marshmallows on the campfire. Yummy! Thank you Mr Russell.

Happy New Year

We hope you all enjoyed the Christmas and New Year break.  We are ready for another busy term in Class 2, our topic this term will be 'People', with our focus being significant individuals throughout history including Florence Nightingale.  See below for an overview of what we will be learning this term and a class letter with a few reminders.

Spring term overview

Our Stratton key values are: Friendship, Respect, Responsibility, Peace and Truthfulness. Out of the many Christian values these were selected by the children, staff, parents and governors as our key values for school life.

Our home school value this term is WISDOM. Click on the link below to find out more.

It is important that our Christian Values are evident and encouraged in our daily lives within our school community. In recognition of children who show responsibility, respect, friendship, who are at peace or truthful, we now have a "values tree" where their photo will be placed. The tree, in the school hall, has colour coded leaves representing our chosen key Christian Values. When a child is spotted by a member of our school community to be demonstrating one of the Values, their photo will go on the appropriate colour leaf in celebration.

Apple tart making

Class 2 made apple tarts last week with apples from the school field.

First they peeled and chopped the apples.

Next they cooked the apples

Then the children made the pastry combining flour and butter.

The apple tarts were delicious and class 2 loved making them.

Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came in to help us!

Welcome to Class 2 September 2016
