Our vision is for all children to believe in themselves and develop a love of lifelong learning, as we grow together. We believe that Forest School provides more opportunities to children to develop holistically and is central to our inclusive ethos.
As a school we believe all children should have regular long-term access to woodland environment throughout all seasons. This will create a child lead learning approach, where children will be able to learn from self-guided play and exploration. Over time we aim for the children to develop confidence, self-esteem, knowledge of the natural world around them, empathy, become great communicators and develop the ability to assess risks for themselves and others.
Activities will range from tree climbing, woodland crafts, den building, wildlife exploration, natural art, campfires and scavenger hunts. The children’s interest form the basis of sessions following their lead where possible. Forest School is an outdoor, nature-based learning environment where the child is the centre of learning, adapting and tailoring sessions where needed to help support the participants.
Within Forest School we make sure we follow the countryside code being considerate to those living in, working in and enjoying the countryside. We need to follow simple rules do not disturb wildlife specially in breeding season, try to return things to where we find them and restrain ourselves from picking the wildflowers. Forest School opportunities are designed on building motivation, positivises activities and interest. Forest School aim to link experiences at home/work or school education. Aims to develop, where appropriate the physical, social, cognitive, emotional and social aspects of learning through play.
