Welcome to Term 3!
Welcome back to the new term! In English this term we will be exploring the story ‘George and the Dragon’ and the recount of Grace Darling’s rescue. In Reading, our class read will be ‘The Pirates Next Door’. In maths we will be learning how to multiply and divide and also all about position and direction. In science this half term, we will be learning about the properties of everyday materials and how they can be changed by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching. In DT we will be designing and making a new container for the pirates’ lunch. In history we will be learning all about Grace Darling. For more information, please see our topic page.
To help us with our DT this term, please you could send in any plastic or cardboard or other material boxes. If the boxes can please be no bigger than shoe boxes and no smaller than a butter tub.
At home, you can help by hearing your child read as often as possible and taking time to discuss the stories and pictures. Children that share books at home make significantly more progress than those who don’t. Questioning the understanding is also important, particularly questions that ask how the children know something. This encourages them to identify particular words within the book.
Spellings homework will continue to come home on a Tuesday to please return by the following Monday. Maths homework will continue to come home on a Thursday to please return by the following Wednesday.
We are looking forward to another enjoyable and successful term.
